Ingredients:
1 lb cheese-filled ravioli (fresh or frozen)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cook the Ravioli:
Cook the cheese-filled ravioli according to the package instructions until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Tomato Sauce:
In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
Assemble the Baked Ravioli:
In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of tomato sauce.
Place a layer of cooked ravioli over the sauce.
Spoon more tomato sauce over the ravioli, ensuring they are well coated.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges are golden brown.
Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
