Cheese Stuffed Meatballs
Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large egg
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Cheese Filling:
1 cup mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
For the Sauce (Optional):
2 cups marinara sauce
Instructions:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare Cheese Filling:
Cut mozzarella cheese into small cubes, about 1/2-inch in size.
Make Meatball Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, egg, milk, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
Shape Meatballs:
Take a small amount of the meat mixture (about 2 tablespoons) and flatten it in your hand.
Place a cube of mozzarella in the center and encase it with the meat mixture, forming a ball. Repeat for the remaining meat and cheese.
Bake the Meatballs:
Place the stuffed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through and browned on the outside.
Optional: Make Sauce:
If desired, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the meatballs are done, you can coat them with the sauce or serve the sauce on the side.
Serve:
Allow the cheese-stuffed meatballs to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy:
Serve the meatballs as an appetizer, on a bed of pasta, or in a sub sandwich.
Note:
You can customize the cheese filling by using different types of cheese like cheddar, provolone, or a blend of cheeses.
Feel free to add additional herbs or spices to the meat mixture for added flavor.
