Cheese Stuffed Meatballs

Ingredients:

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Cheese Filling:

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes

For the Sauce (Optional):

  • 2 cups marinara sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  1. Prepare Cheese Filling:

    • Cut mozzarella cheese into small cubes, about 1/2-inch in size.

  1. Make Meatball Mixture:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, egg, milk, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

  1. Shape Meatballs:

    • Take a small amount of the meat mixture (about 2 tablespoons) and flatten it in your hand.

    • Place a cube of mozzarella in the center and encase it with the meat mixture, forming a ball. Repeat for the remaining meat and cheese.

  1. Bake the Meatballs:

    • Place the stuffed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through and browned on the outside.

  1. Optional: Make Sauce:

    • If desired, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the meatballs are done, you can coat them with the sauce or serve the sauce on the side.

  1. Serve:

    • Allow the cheese-stuffed meatballs to cool for a few minutes before serving.

  1. Enjoy:

    • Serve the meatballs as an appetizer, on a bed of pasta, or in a sub sandwich.

Note:

  • You can customize the cheese filling by using different types of cheese like cheddar, provolone, or a blend of cheeses.

  • Feel free to add additional herbs or spices to the meat mixture for added flavor.
