  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal

  • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal

  • 2 cups pretzel sticks

  • 2 cups mixed nuts (e.g., almonds, cashews, peanuts)

  • 1 cup bagel chips, broken into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 cup bite-sized cheese crackers

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Smoker:

    • Preheat your smoker to a low temperature (around 225-250°F or 107-121°C) using wood chips of your choice (hickory or mesquite work well).

  1. Prepare the Chex Mix:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, pretzel sticks, mixed nuts, bagel chips, and cheese crackers.

  1. Make the Seasoning Mixture:

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt.

  1. Coat the Chex Mix:

    • Pour the seasoning mixture over the Chex mix and toss until all the pieces are evenly coated.

  1. Smoke the Chex Mix:

    • Spread the seasoned Chex mix evenly on a baking sheet or disposable aluminum tray.

  1. Smoke for Flavor:

    • Place the baking sheet in the smoker and smoke the Chex mix for about 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring every 20-30 minutes to ensure even smoking.

  1. Cool and Serve:

    • Allow the smoked Chex mix to cool completely before serving.

  1. Store:

    • Store the smoked Chex mix in an airtight container to maintain its freshness.

Note:

  • You can customize the mix by adding other favorite snacks like small pretzels, corn nuts, or different types of nuts.

  • Adjust the level of spiciness by modifying the amount of cayenne pepper.

  • Experiment with different wood chips for smoking to achieve varied flavor profiles.
