Chicken Dumplings with Spicy Za'atar Sauce

Ingredients:

1 pound ground chicken

1/2 cup finely chopped napa cabbage

1/4 cup finely chopped shiitake mushrooms

2 green onions, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1 package round dumpling wrappers

Salt and pepper, to taste

Water (for sealing dumplings)

Instructions:

In a bowl, combine ground chicken, napa cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Place a small spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center of a dumpling wrapper. Moisten the edge with water and fold over, sealing to create a half-moon shape. Pleat the edges for a decorative touch.

Repeat the process until all dumplings are assembled.

Steam the dumplings for about 10-12 minutes or until the filling is cooked through.

For the Spicy Za'atar Sauce:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons za'atar spice blend

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

In a bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, za'atar spice blend, olive oil, honey, lemon juice, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to your liking.

Allow the flavors to meld by refrigerating the sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving.

For Assembly:

Arrange the steamed chicken dumplings on a serving plate or platter.

Drizzle the spicy Za'atar sauce over the dumplings or serve it on the side for dipping.

Garnish with additional chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and a sprinkle of extra za'atar for presentation.

Optional Tips:

Consider pan-searing the dumplings after steaming for a crispy texture.

Garnish with fresh herbs like cilantro or mint for added freshness.

Serve the dish on individual plates for an elegant presentation.
