Gourmet Edible Cookie Dough

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour, heat-treated

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup gourmet chocolate chips (dark, milk, or a mix)

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat-Treat the Flour:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the flour on a baking sheet and bake for about 5-7 minutes, or until it reaches 160°F (71°C) using a food thermometer. Let it cool completely before using in the recipe.

  1. Cream the Butter and Sugars:

    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  1. Add Vanilla Extract:

    • Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.

  1. Add Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the heat-treated flour and salt to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until well combined. Adjust the consistency by adding more flour if needed.

  1. Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts:

    • Gently fold in the gourmet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

  1. Chill:

    • For best results, cover the cookie dough and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up slightly.
