Herb Basted Pork Chop

Ingredients:

For the Pork Chops:

  • 4 bone-in pork chops, about 1 inch thick

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Herb Basting Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

Preparing the Pork Chops:

  1. Season the Pork Chops:

    • Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels.

    • Season both sides of the pork chops with salt and black pepper.

  1. Preheat the Pan:

    • Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.

  1. Sear the Pork Chops:

    • Place the pork chops in the hot skillet and sear for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they develop a golden brown crust.

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) during this time.

  1. Prepare the Herb Basting Sauce:

    • In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

    • Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  1. Add Fresh Herbs:

    • Stir in the chopped parsley, thyme, rosemary, and sage. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes to infuse the butter with the flavors of the herbs.

    • Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.

Basting and Finishing:

  1. Baste the Pork Chops:

    • Pour the herb basting sauce over the seared pork chops, ensuring they are well-coated.

  1. Transfer to the Oven:

    • Place the skillet with the pork chops in the preheated oven and roast for about 10-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) for medium doneness.

  1. Baste Again:

    • Occasionally baste the pork chops with the herb sauce during the roasting process.

  1. Rest and Serve:

    • Once the pork chops are cooked to your liking, remove them from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes.

  1. Serve and Enjoy:

    • Plate the herb-basted pork chops, spooning any remaining herb sauce over the top. Serve them with your favorite side dishes.
